Hi, my name is Laura Heath, a pair of old friends, Candace Bellomy and Hilda Stoelk started Trash Can Annie in 1978 on the banks of the Mississippi. TCA was passed on to me in 1995. I’ve really enjoyed owning this historical
shop and am proud to be celebrating the 21st century by offering our fine vintage worldwide! Read on to learn more about us.
We do business with professional theatres such as the Steppenwolf and Goodman theatres in Chicago, as well as providing some of the clothing and accessories for James Cameron’s Titanic and the recently released Woody Allen film, Sweet and Lowdown. We also cater to celebrity clientele including Natalie Merchant, Brooke Shields, Pam Tillis, Roseanne, Tommy Chong, and Jay Yeunger of White Zombie. Trash Can Annie's unparalleled collection of vintage clothing and accessories has
attracted patrons worldwide, from France and Norway to Japan and New Zealand. We'd love to have you join our family of discriminating customers who appreciate unique style.
Bryan and I were married on October 3rd, 1998. I wore this one-of-a-kind 1930s ivory wedding gown. My favorite feature is the beautifully crocheted skirt and train. Bryan wore a stylish 1930s double-breasted wool tuxedo. We exchanged our vows in an 1890s Arts and Crafts style mansion after being chauffeured to the ceremony in a 1926 Cadillac. It was vintage all the way!
Trash Can Annie is located on the second floor of Hibernian Hall. An interesting piece of history in it’s own right, Hibernian Hall was built in 1880 as a meeting hall for the area Ancient Order of the Hibernians, an Irish Catholic fraternal organization originally formed in occupied Ireland in the early 1600s. In the 1920s the building was home to the Hayes Dance Studio where Jazz legend Bix Biederbecke first played with his own group, The Bix Biederbecke Five. Now for more than two decades we have been proud to call this historic landmark our home. It’s the perfect setting for a step into the past!
This is our shop cat Skeezix. He’s the latest in a long line of Trash Can Annie felines. He’s a handsome, friendly hulk and just two years old.
Another member of the Trash Can Annie team, Raphael de Monteflor is a longtime friend and colleague. Raphael is a Castillian currently residing in Majorca.
